Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Results July 30,2014

Mini stock driver Joey Baxter had the most fun on the night dueling it out against his sibling Chad Baxter, the 2012 Champion for his victory. Good car count at 17 race cars in the competitive division. Both brothers have a win in 2014.
In the Sportsman division in 2014 Cory Hutchings can do no wrong  and it helps not having Larry Barnett lurking behind you. I knew the division would be up for grabs this year. Shawn Monahan and Corey Hutchings are the cream of the field with a handicap going to Steve Kenneway, Jesse Gleason and Scott Sundeen. Two wins in 2014 for Hutchings, 19 race cars made up the field and was 8 down from the Ice Breaker turn out.
In the Late Models, the first time winner was #15 Jeff Smith in the 25 lap feature over Damion Tinio. The two pre-season favorites were # 70 Rick Gentes and # 3 Glenn Boss. Gentes had to settle for a 6th place finish and Boss could only manage 11 laps of racing after being involved in a few on the track mishaps.
The glitter of the racing event was supposed to be the Sonoco Sk Modified 20/20 three segment race and it started out that way. Keith Rocco of Berlin Conn.

took segment one and then experienced night ending mechanical problems. Woody Pitkat's chariot than came up lame leaving the rest of nights racing to #31 Ryan Preece to pounce on and he took advantage of the opportunity. Low accummlative score of six based on  fourth in segment one and two firsts in segment 2 and segment three.
It looks like Preece is going to take the track championship back from Keith Rocco after winning it in 2012. In 2013 Woody Pitkat and Rocco finished in a tie ,but Rocco had more wins and took the hardware. Ageless #79 Kerry Malone took the silver medal with two seconds and a fourth place to his 8 point low score. Preece in 2014 has a 3rd place finish on April 6th, May 15 suspended race on May 29th and the regular race on May 29, both in victory lane and again last night.

Repeat Winner in great equipment ?
The NEMA and NEMA Lights invade Seekonk Speedway, Massachusetts tonight for the Boston Louie Memorial Race which is the Super Bowl of their season. Doug Colby will be on hand to defend his streak at the Cement Palace. Colby is also holding a very slim lead in the Whelen Modified Series.
The Nema Series Races will also be taped for TV and will be broadcast in early August on MAVTV.
The field should be one of the seasons larger ones and Bobby Santos should also put on a display of his many driving talents. I have a pre-race feeling the heat races are going to be amazing tonight.
Randy Cabral, the all-time winner at Seekonk in the event will be dialed in and Anthony Nocella will factor in the race at some point. Jim Chambers, Kenney Johnson, Red Hot Bethany Stoehr, Seth Carlson, Avery Stoehr, John Zych and Paul Scally will fill the All-Star studded fields of Midget Methanol racers.   Photos can be shared, just please reference the source Wayne

Race is called at Daytona #43 Aric Almirola wins a Big One for Richard Petty Racing !

Aric Almirola
Mikey McDowell
Richard Petty must be smiling in Florida. It is the type of story like the little engine that could. Most race fans feel the super big race teams will win and the the smaller financial backed teams from the 11 spot back. Not at Daytona with the rain and big crashes that took out a big chunk of the field.
The cable TV audience all cheered in their living or man caves when one of the most famous numbers in NASCAR history went to victory lane.
