e drew a good starting position with a third row start and having a lot of momentum sitting second in the standings.
Jon set his own race pace where he could save his equipment and still keep pace with the rocket ship early race leader #46 Ryan Coniam making the trip from Denver, Co.
Starting on the pole, Coniam mounted a quarter lap lead over #21 Eddie Witkum Jr.calling Westford Mass. home. This blistering pace had a cost and the pack caught up to him by lap 26 and his hot chariot faltered and retired to the pits.
Witkum took over the point and #37 Jeff Locke of Raymond , NH hot on his tail in second. For the next twenty edge of seat laps the Witkum rocket ship padded his lead and took charge and it looked like it was going to continue. Most of the diehard race fans were watching the heated battle between #11 Chris Pearly of Rowley, Mass. and Mckenedy for 5th and 6th. Lap after lap till lap 48 when Pearly made a slip between turns three and four.
The re-start evened the playing field and gave everyone new hope. #74 Rob Summers stepped up to the plate and took second away from Locke. The second and finale yellow came out on lap 49 that took Pearly out of contention for the night.# 39 Allison Cumens who traveled up from Lyndell, Pa.and Pearly traded paint. The smoke cleared and Justin Belfiore of Haverhill, Mass. Cumens and the rest of the field reset for the dash to victory lane.In this last shuffle #17 Ben Sietz of the Cape Cod town on Bourne. Mass.and Mckenendy thrilled the crowd with their driving skills and both passed by Locke. By lap #57 Jon Mckennedy turned it up a notch to now run his own race within a race in the teams strategic race plan.
In victory lane, McKennedy said. "We had a real good race car all day long, I just knew the track would abuse the race tires, if I pushed to hard." The first part of the event, I just rode around and kept the early race leaders in sight, making dam sure that I had something left for the end. "It was Awesome to come out on top" Real big Thank You to Crystal Snape for a great live report.
