Hutchings has had some bad finish's to lower his season overall point total. There was a lot of cautions throughout the race and the restarts were crucial.
#90 Joey Coates led the first lap and then lost it to a hard charging #15 Dwayne Dorr. His rocket ship was dialed in to a ten race car length lead. Hutchings knew he had a winning race car and reeled him in by lap #6. Hutchings had him all set up for a low groove pass and then a caution came out to delay the pass.Hutchings used his restart driving skills to take the lead and then bam ! ,another caution by a turn four spinout.
Dorr then came out on the point and held off Hutchings on the restart but then another spinout by this time #36 Scott Sundeen in front of us and looked like some valuable points were evaporating also.
This restart Hutchings capitalized on Dorr spinning the tires. This pair of racers really put on a great show for the die hard race fan in this most popular division. BAM ! another caution. This time three time winner #51 Shawn Monahan traded paint with #96 Travis Jurcik and took both drivers out of a possible podium finish.
Hutchings who controlled the restart tempo to his driving style and led again and actually looked faster at this time of the race. Their was more rubber on the track surface it seemed. Hutchings was on cruise control and had a half of a straight away lead when another caution came out on lap 16.
Hutchings put out the fire on another restart and then on lap 17 a three car pileup with #81 Jesse Gleason totaling his race car into the wall on turn one. At the time his race car had come to life and was battling for the 4th position with #75 Ryan Waterman and # 37 Kevin Mason.
Hutchings led the restart and ran the last three laps of a green, white and checkers with no challenge from the survivors of the caution filled 20 lap Limited Sportsman event.
In post race inspection, the second place race car #15 Dwayne Dorr and the third place race car of #57 Diego Monahan were found to have carburetors that were oversize, so the points leader #36 Scott Sundeen, who earlier in the event spun out stayed to the game plan and it paid off with a second place finish and 48 points.
