Winchester, NH:
This past Saturday, the fans of Monadnock Speedway were treated to great racing action from the NASCAR All American Racing Series where the end of the season’s point battles heat up.  The division that will come right down to the last points event is the Super Stock division as only a few points separate 2015 Champion Dennis Stange, Joel Monahan and Tyler Leary for the 2016 title.

The night’s feature events started off with the Young Guns.  Jaret Curtis set the pace for their 15 lap main and quickly commanded the lead as Shelby Avery and Devin Guy followed.  On lap two, the caution flag flew as Guy made contact with Avery going for the number two spot.  On the restart, it was the Curtis show as brothers Jaret and Chase battled for the lead. Dylan Morse, in his second race of the season, took over third.  Guy, who was penalized earlier in the race, and Avery were on a mission as they quickly returned to the top five within a few laps.  On lap five, Avery trying to maneuver around a lap car, lost ground by sliding into the infield. The race continued under green as she rejoined the field.  As laps winded down, Chase Curtis attempted to get around Jaret Curtis as he protected his second spot from Guy.  Avery made up some ground and battled Morse for fourth.  At the checkered flag, it was Chase beating out his brother Jaret for the win followed by Guy, Avery and Morse.

The Mini Stocks were on the track next as Mike McGoldrick and Alexander Pearl brought the field to the green.  McGoldrick jumped into the lead as Pearl tucked behind him for second. A three-way battle for third developed between Kevin McKnight, Eric Pomasko and Matt Kimball.  On lap four, Kimball made his move and took over fourth from Pomasko and started to work on McKnight for third.  The top two runners of McGoldrick and Pearl continued to show the way as Kimball looked to the inside of McKnight for third. On lap ten, Kimball successfully took over third and started to reel in Pearl for second.  On lap 15, Kimball took over second coming out of turn two and the chase for McGoldrick was on.  A caution came out on lap 18 for the leader as he spun in fluid pouring out of the Justin Littlewood’s race machine.  McGoldrick was granted the number one spot on the restart, due to the fluid, however could not hang on as Kimball was the new leader on the next lap.  McKnight and Pomasko fought for third as they ran side by side for several laps. Points leader of Solomon Brow, who suffered mechanical problems earlier in the day, moved up to the fourth spot. On the final lap, it was Kimball celebrating the victory followed by McGoldrick with his best career finish in the division followed by Pomasko, Brow and McKnight.

The Thunder Stocks rolled onto the track as Richard Vincent and Paul Smith sat in the top two to start their feature event.  Vincent, looking for his official checkered flag win of the season, took the lead as Smith found himself in a duel for second as Craig Chaffee put the pressure on. Chaffee with a lean on Smith in turn four, took over second as Smith had to contend with former champion, Marshall Usher, for third.  A few laps later, Usher took over third as Chaffee was all over the back bumper of Vincent for the lead.  Points leader, James Nowakowski, ran in fifth as he protected his top five spot from Greg Williams. The leaders began to approach a lap car of newcomer, Stanley Kuklewizc.  Vincent carefully made his way around as Chaffee lost some ground coming off of turn two as he attempted to pass Kuklewicz.  Once cleared, Chaffee picked up ground on Vincent as Usher, Smith, Nowakowski and Williams ran nose to tail for third. Two laps to go, Vincent and Chaffee again carefully worked their way around a lap car as Chaffee awaited the opening for the lead spot.  On the final lap, Chaffee with a great run off turn four gave it all he had but was denied as Vincent took down the win. Chaffee had to settle for second followed by Usher, Smith and Nowakowski.
Nancy Muni and Cole Littlewood brought the Super Stocks down to the green flag.  Muni took the lead as Littlewood felt the pressure early from Tyler Leary and Joel Monahan.  Former champion, Dennis Stange, who started sixth slipped back to the ninth spot right at the green flag start.  On lap four, the field was shown the yellow for a spin from Scott Beck Sr.   The next few restarts on lap four found back to back cautions. On the first restart attempt, Muni who led the way green suffered mechanical issues and came to a stop on the back stretch which gave Cole Littlewood the top spot.  On the second restart attempt, the leader of Littlewood headed to the pits for a flat tire.  The third time was a charm, as the lap was successfully completed as Joel Monahan inherited the top spot followed by Robert Hagar and Tyler Leary.    Monahan began to develop a good lead as Leary knocked on the back bumper of Hagar. Stange battled with Tyler Lescord for the fourth spot.  Leary continued to put the pressure on Hagar until he found himself in a wheel to wheel battle with Stange for third.  As only a few points separate Monahan, Leary and Stange, every gained position was important.  Monahan was on cruise control as Stange took over third on was on the hunt for second.  Stange desperately looked for a way around Hagar as the flagman showed two to go.  At the checkers, it was Monahan followed Hagar, Stange, Leary and Lescord.

The rumble of the Sportsman Modifieds concluded the evening’s event as Kim Rivet and Cameron Sontag brought the field to the green.  Rivet took the lead as Sontag attempted to hold of Keith Carzello as the ran side by side.  Carzello took the second spot away as Sontag was freight-trained, stuck on the outside, and lost position to Geoff Rollins and Bill Kimball. On lap six, the fans saw a new leader of Carzello as Rivet felt the heat from both Rollins and Kimball for second.   The field all settled in and ran nose to tail for several laps as the only battle was between Rollins and Kimball for third.  Kimball made his move on lap ten and began to challenge Rivet for second.  Carzello developed a good lead, as Rivet shut down several attempts from Kimball as he tried to get room underneath for the pass. On lap 22, Kimball took advantage of lap traffic and picked off Rivet for second and began to reel Carzello in.  Rollins was all over the back bumper of Rivet for third.  As laps winded down, Carzello was praying for no cautions as Kimball had his sight on him for the top spot. At the end, it was Carzello capturing the victory followed by Kimball, Rivet, Rollins and Nathan Johnson.
