As lighting and thunder put on a light show in the New Hampshire
skies, Jon Mckennedy of East Chelmsford, MA put on his own lighting
and thunder show on the fast 3/8 mile Lee USA speedway Fri. 7/22.
This was McKennedy's 4th victory for 2016 and his 19th career
victory with the Modified Racing Series. Starting from row two,
McKennedy's Exit Reality sponsored #29 ran in third stalking race
leader Mike Willis Jr. of Grantham, NH and second place Todd Patnode
of Richmond, NH. A lap 31 caution flag gave McKennedy the opportunity
he needed to race by Patnode on the restart with an inside move to
place him second. By lap 37 McKennedy tracked down a fading Willis and
drove by to take down the first 50 lap feature.
Todd Patnode driving the Patnode Oil sponsored #24 turned in
another stellar performance finishing in the runner up spot with
Richard Savary of Canton, Ma., an infrequent visitor to the series,
running his always impressive style came from midpack to put the E
Keys For Cars sponsored #99 in third.
Willis Jr. hung on for fourth and Anthony Nocella of Woburn,Ma was
fifth. Rounding out the top 10 were David Schneider, Geoff Gernhard,
Donnie Lashua, Todd Szegedy with Rob Richardi Jr becoming the hard
charger of the race picking up 9 positions to finish 10th.
Heat winners were #4, Jeffery Gallup #38, Mike Willis Jr. #50, Carl
Medeiros Jr.
Two cautions slowed the action, both came on lap 31.
