Seekonk Mass.: Fans on parade night at Seekonk Speedway and the sports trucks started out the full race card field on a muggy summers night. John Robidoux #93 Taunton, Mass. and Lenny Guy #77 New Bedford led the 13 truck field to the green flag. The field was absent last weeks winner Rob ( Dropkick) Murphy #82, Hard nose wheelman John Paiva #21and the all time track champion in this division Mike Cavallarro #80. The battle between Mike Duarte #50 Dighton, Mass. and Chase Belcher for 12 laps was worth the price of admission. Barry Shaw Jr. #85 who is not fading away in the points race was also duking it out with the Joshua Hedges #38 for third and fourth and just close enough to pounce if the two leaders took each other out. It took a last lap clean pass by Belcher to secure his division leading fifth victory. The #00 Ed Perry who hails from Rehoboth, Mass. and the #32 driven by Warwick, RI's David Simpson started hitting their marks late in the race and another caution or 5 laps of fender banging racing could have changed this outcome.
Belcher with five wins (568 points) in 2017 still cannot shake the tenacious Barry Shaw with a pair of wins and (544 ) points and only 24 back. Mike Duarte sits at third with a win and a hefty points ((536) and only -32 out of a championship. All the top 4 trucks were turning great laps in the high 14 second range 14.765 thru 14.950 The maturity and confidence level is now showing for the young Everett Auto Parts driver Chase Belcher in his quest for a second weekly track championship with Mike Cavallaro having a off year. Belcher has also wrapped up the Phil's Propane Triple Crown Championship in this division and will have to build a longer mantle for his many trophies.
