EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – The season started off as a busy one with 3 races in a row, and now after a weekend off, Packard is anxious to get her 9me Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels car back on the track for the Spring Green 115 at Airborne Park Speedway. "I am really looking forward to going to Airborne Park this weekend," said Packard. "We have been having some good luck this season, and I am hoping to continue that success."
Finishing 11th in last season's spring American Canadian Tour race at Airborne Park Speedway, Packard hopes to continue her streak and better that finish on Saturday. In two of the three races this season, Packard found herself starting back in the pack, and passing a number of cars to make her way forward to finish in the top 6. "This weekend I would like to undo the jinx I have with heat races," Packard said. "I would like to finish better in my heat race so that I can start far enough forward in the feature that by lap 100 I am in the hunt and not just cracking the top 10 and having to pass so many cars to get there."
Currently 5th in the American Canadian Tour points, Packard is looking forward to capitalizing on the early success that she has been experiencing early in the season. "I feel comfortable where we are three races into the season, but it only takes one bad race to ruin it," said Packard. "I am extremely happy with the runs that we have had to date, and I hope to keep improving each race. I like racing at Airborne Park, and am ready to get back to the track on Saturday."
This is the first of four combination races of the 2015 season for the American Canadian Tour and the Série ACT. This is also the return of the Spring Green 115 race to Airborne Park, as the past four years it has been held at Devil's Bowl Speedway. Practice begins at noon time Saturday May 16th, with heats scheduled to begin at 5 pm. If you can't get to the track this weekend, don't forget to follow Emily and the team on social media.
