On Sunday, May 3, Seekonk Speedway will open its doors for the 70th consecutive season. This time, for the first time since 2005, it will be under the NASCAR Whelen All American Series (NWAAS) banner.
In a Radio interview on the Award Winning Race Chatter # 21 Sportsman Truck 2013 Track Champion said "I want it Back" and young Austin Blais is really dialing in the Late Model for a run at a Track Championship. Yes, Sportsman Truck original member Mr. Hall of Fame, Billy Clark will return for another racing season for his allegiance of loyal race fans too !
The front gates will open at 11 am with time trial qualifying for the Pro Stocks beginning at 12 pm. The time trials are a once a year qualifying effort for the A division setting the qualifying heats lineup.
Qualifying heats for the NWAAS Pro Stocks, Late Models, Street Stocks and Sport Trucks begin at 1 pm. with the features following. The Pro Stocks will run a 40 lap main event, with the Late Models running 30 laps, and the Street Stocks and Sport Trucks both running 25 laps each.
Ryan Vanasse, Bill Bernard, Rey Lovelace and John Paiva are the defending opening day victors.
On Saturday, May 2, the annual Custom Car Show & Go will be rocking in the main parking lot. The cars will start rolling in early in the am, with the show beginning at 10 am. Cruisin’ Bruce Palmer will be spinning the oldies as the fans enjoy the walk back in time. While the car show is being enjoyed, the NWAAS divisions will be getting ready for opening day with their final open practice session, which is open to all to enjoy at no charge.

At 1 pm, the track will go silent for the weekly competitors, and open up for the GO portion of the Show & Go. The cars from the front parking lot show will have an opportunity to compete on the 1/3 mile oval in 100 foot drags. This has become one of the most popular parts of the Show & Go. It gives the drivers of these show pieces a change to compete one on one in a winner take all drag race.
