Sprint Cup race postponed; Saturday track activity postponed:

Posted by Wayne G. Barber

NASCAR has postponed ALL track activity at Charlotte Motor Speedway for Saturday, October 8; revised schedule to be posted when available. The Bank of America 500 Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed and re-scheduled for Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 12:00pm/et and be aired on NBC and NBCSN. No word on pre-race coverage yet. The NASCAR XFINITY Series race has been re-scheduled for Sunday Oct 9th, starting 45 minutes after the Sprint Cup race and be aired on NBCSN.
AND Saturday night's scheduled Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed to Sunday due to inclement weather. It's the second consecutive year the opening race in the Round of 12 was pushed back a day because of rain. The decision was made after rain pelted the track and surrounding area all day Saturday as the outer bands of Hurricane Matthew made their way through. Weather forecasts varied initially, with some calling for rain to end around 5 p.m. and others projecting precipitation into the night. Sunday will now serve as a doubleheader, putting on two races the same day on the same track for the second consecutive week. The Sprint Cup Series race goes green at 12:00pm/et, with TV coverage simulcast on NBC and NBCSN, and radio coverage on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. The XFINITY Series race would follow, with a projected start time of 4:30pm/et. It will be broadcast on NBCSN with radio coverage on PRN SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.(NASCAR)(10-8-2016)
