The Granite State Pro Stock Series will return to Lee USA Speedway (NH), on July 24, for the Seacoast 100.
The Seacoast 100 will be the seventh race of the Granite State Pro Stock Series’ (GSPSS) season, and marks the second time running at the Lee, NH 3/8-mile facility.
Point-leader Derek Griffith is excited to return to the track where he picked up his first pro stock win. Griffith won the Pro Stock version of the season-ending Oktoberfest at Lee USA Speedway in 2012.
“Lee (USA Speedway) is definitely a sentimental place because of the first win,” Griffith stated. “I'd love to get another win there. I have no lack of faith in [team owner] Louie [Mechalides], or the car, so it will just be on me.”
Griffith will be looking for win number four of the year, after picking up his first win on the tour at Claremont Speedway (NH), in April. Griffith believes his recent success on the GSPSS is a direct reflection of his team.
Griffith continues “We are definitely not a team that just loads the car up at one race, and unloads it the next. We do as well as we do because we work almost every night on the car. It's a whole separate job from regular work. The car’s fast because we put the effort in.”
Even though there aren’t many nights when the Mechalides team is not under the hood of the FEP Insurance/Motorcycles of Manchester Toyota, the team is still together.
“The members of my team are all friends; when we do have a spare day off, it’s usually spent down at the Mechalides house. We're all like family, more than a team, and it's just the best setup I could have hoped for.”
The Seacoast 100 will take place at Lee USA Speedway, on July 24. Post time for the Seacoast 100 is 7PM. For more information on the Granite State Pro Stock Series, visit www.gspss.net.
