John Paiva slid up through the Sport Trucks field to challenge leader Chase Belcher, gaining the front just ahead of the races midpoint , then held his nemesis off the rest of the way to Victory Lane. Rob Murphy, in his third race of the evening, finished third, ahead of David Lougee and Mike Cavallaro, who got together as they came to the stripe, finishing fourth and fifth. However, post race inspection revealed ineligible gas in Lougee's fuel cell, resulting in disqualification and loss of points. The loss of points cost him the points lead, elevating Belcher to the division lead.
Lenny Guy came off the pole a nose ahead of Eric LeBrun just before Cavallaro and Murphy got together, resulting in Cavallaro spinning and Murphy joining him at the back for the assist. The combatants came out again, wheel-to-wheel at the stripe with Lenny gaining a nose on the backstretch. But Belcher had gained the second row with Darryl Church for the restart and got under LeBrun for second. He then worked his way below Guy and they battled into turn three with Belcher gaining the front. Guy was hung out to dry as LeBrun thenPaiva slipped past followed by Ed Perry.
Belcher had a half straightaway lead in lap seven with Lebrun trying to keep pace as Paiva filled his mirror. Paiva began looking underneath while Perry, Guy and Mike Lopes gave chase. The lead lengthened for Belcher and Paiva went under LeBrun into second before the Latter spun in turn two.
It took a pair of attempts to get the lap eleven restart going as LeBrun spun and Perry was called on the assist. Second time Paiva nosed ahead of Belcher out of the box then took the lead in turn two as David Lougee edged ahead of Guy for third. A lap later, Lougee was in control of third. Paiva continued at the front with Belcher on his bumper and Lougee in third as Murphy got under Guy. Murphy went to fourth on lap thirteen. On lap later, Cavallaro followed Murphy under Guy into fifth. The competition was fierce as the laps wound down. Murphy went to Lougee's bumper as Cavallaro nosed underneath and began moving up into side-by-side racing with Murphy and stuck his nose past.
With five to go, Paiva clung to his lead with Belcher still all over his bumper. Lougee held third as Cavallaro cleared Murphy who locked onto Cavallaros bumper and Guy ran in pursuit. Mike Lopes was running behnd guy with Shawn DeMello exchanging position with Church behind him. Cavallaro began pressuring Lougee and went to the outside. Murphy went under Cavallaro but caution flew as Lopes radiator blew, spreading fluid and Church spun. The red flag flew to enable a faster cleanup by the track crew.
On the restart, Paiva and Belcher were side by side as were Lougee and Cavallaro behind them. Murphy and Guy waited anxiously in row three, ahead of John Robidoux and DeMello. Paiva was away on the green and Belcher dropped down, cutting off Lougee, who had Cavallaro running outside. Murphy ran on Lougee's bumper. Belcher was looking underneath but could find no room
On the final circuit, Murphy nosed under Lougee coming through turn four. There was contact and Lougee went sideways into Cavallaro, taking the latter into the wall at the stripe as Murphy vaulted into third.
