Star Speedway, Epping, NH
Randy Cabral of Kingston, Mass. driving the K&N Engineering
sponsored NEMA midget continues to be hot on the senior circuit. After
starting from the third row it only took him one lap to race into
second place. His supercharged run to the front was halted after a lap
one red flag crash that elimated Dan Cugini and Jim SantaMaria
On the restart Cabral overhauled race leader and pole sitter Avery
Stoehr, of Lakeville, Mass. From that point on Cabral checked out and
let everybody else fight for second place.
A normally quick Stoehr was fighting a loose race car and Jim
Chambers of Atkinson,NH driving the Mac's Auto World sponsored midget
took advantage, following in Cabrals tire tracks to take over second
place while Todd Bertrand- Danielson,Ct., Sammy Swindell- Germantown,
Tenn. and John Zych- Mendon, Mass. sliced thier way through traffic
each looking for a podium finnish.
As the laps wound down, Chambers mounted an effort on Cabral who
was using lapped traffic to his advantage but Chambers came up 0.708
seconds short at the finish line.
The victory was Cabrals 50th NEMA win putting him 3rd on the all
time win list. Only Drew Fornoro (85) and Dave Humphrey (73) have more
wins.
Bertrand would pervail finishing 3rd, holding off Swindell and Zych
who finnished 4th and 5th respectfully. Rounding out the top ten were
Alan Chambers, Seth Carlson, Avery Stoehr, Paul Scally and Doug
Cleveland.
Heat winners were #4- Anthony Nocella and #7- Alan Chambers

roared off to the early lead looking for win number one but Jim
Chambers of Atkinson, NH had other ideas and came from his midpack
starting position to take over the lead on lap ten.
P.J. Stergios of Candia, NH., always a contender, took a little
more time reaching the front runners and overhauled Mikitarain for
second place on lap 15 but just didnt have enough time to reel in a
hard charging Chambers.
