Late Model Results from Seekonk Speedway 6-6-15

15 Late Models made the trek to the Cement Palace on this beautiful spring day in New England. The speedway is celebrating it's 70th year in operation in Massachusetts and is the only remaining short track facility in the state. The Valenti Modifies were on the racing card tonight for there only visit in 2015 so the top division Pro-Stocks were given the night off. Some of the shoes thought about racing in other divisions and Ryan Vanasse elected to run the #11 R.I. entry. The regular #11 is used by Nick Uhrig in the late models.
He showed an impressive heat race with a solid second place finish for 4 points. The race team that impressed this scribe the most in the heats was the #17 of Vinnie Arrenegado who just recently earned his first victory in the late model division. In his heat he received the checkers for a big 5 points in a long season that could decide a championship.
The 30 lap feature draw put the #50 of  Jeramee Lillie and the # 82 of Marc Hudson at the front of the pack. Very seasoned group of drivers in this field and it went green till lap #8 when #46 Dylan Estrella rear of the race car snapped out on him to bring out the yellow caution flag.Next caution came out on lap #13 when #15 Jonathan Mahoney made contact with the cement wall.#12 Bobby Pelland III took advantage of the caution and made a very quick trip back to the pits for a adjustment to his race car without losing a lap. The re-start had Lillie and Hudson still up front followed by #7 Charlie Rose, #16 Rookie Austin Blais, driving the former Dylan Estrella race car that won quite a few races in 2014and then last weeks first time winner #17 Vinnie Arrenegado.
The driver of the rocket ship #11ri Ryan Vanasse diced his way through traffic high and low and the crowd knew that he would soon be a factor in this race.On lap 20 Ryan Vanasse who had moved up to third on a awesome re-start now blows by #Charlie Rose for the second spot and by lap 25 has caught Dave Lillie. On lap #26 Vanasse was stuck like glue on the rear bumper of #50 Lillie.  Lillie is trying his hardest to throw a block on the preferred inside groove on the hard charging Vanasse and in a split second the rear end of his race car snapped out and spun  into the dry infield and somehow Vanasse held his rocket ship onto the race track. Only 4 laps to go and a very angry #50 Jeramee Lillie showed his dis-agreement with track management and parked on the race track, revved the motor and did a smoke show before abiding by the race officials decision to the rear of the field for the re-start. Charlie rose now moves to second to the new race leader Vanasse. On lap 28 contact with #16 Austin(Bullet) Blais and the #00 of TJ Moreshead in turn 4 brought out another caution and the #46 Dylan Estrella part of a two car race team with #47 Bill Bernard darted into the pits. This created a green white checkered situation to decide a winner of this late model race.Vanasse text book re-start and the real battle was for second with # 7 Charlie Rose and #17 Vinnie Arrenegado. Photo finish warranted a view and it stood for Rose.
My friend Dick Houlihan had the night off.
Could be the sleeper in 2015 in the Late Models !
The interview and awarding the trophy on the race track by track announcer Kevin Boucher was going along smoothly until Vanasse stated that he enjoyed moving down to the late models for a good clean race but the cheering section in the stands for regular # 50 Jeramee Lillie voiced their difference to a about a ten on the scale of the sound meter to the statement. This is another reason why this scribe Loves short track racing in New England. Perception or Interpretation of contact ??? Late Models - Feature
