Beautiful spring night in New England for one of my favorite weekly divisions, the Sports Trucks. Last Week was a extended race and the first of three Phils Propane triple crown events with extra laps and double points for heats and feature races.
#50 Mike Duarte first career Sports Truck Victory at Seekonk !
#21 John Paiva the 2013 track champion is on a mission and on a interview on our worldwide weekly "Race Chatter" radio show said, "time to focus and re-claim the throne. He nailed a win early against two former division champions #80 Mike (ice man) Cavallarro (5) and Rob ( drop kick) Murphy (1) 2014 and came right back to do it again and then had a heart wrenching DQ by not pulling his engine after another race team posted a $500 claim against him for a alledged illegal crankshaft. Murphy moved up one position and grabbed the 50 points and trophy. I invited him back on the radio show two days later on a Monday night to explain and he obliged. He then abided by the tracks wish's and they confirmed that his crankshaft was without any question of a doubt ( Legal) and granted him permission to race again. He was legal but lost the victory and the heat points valuable total (54) .He tightened his 5 point harness and re-focused for a double points night last week for the heats and the feature and brought his green and black chariot home to Victory Lane.
I worked the races and the drivers were constantly being warned to use all of the 72 foot wide racing surface. It must have been a magnetic field in Seekonk Mass. on the night because these two trucks were glued to each other tighter than a peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich on wheat bread.
In this scribes opinion this feature was worth the price of the low admission fee. Paiva slammed the opposition to claim the double points night and got right back in this barn burner points race at Seekonk.
Ok, that brings us up to tonight and the swelling crowd of die hard race fans were looking for another competitive race and they certainly received one.
Heat #1

Low count of 12 trucks including the three former champions so the track ordered two heats of 6 trucks.
Results; 1st #50 Mike Duarte, 2nd #81 Chase Belcher (Murphy's team mate)3rd #21 John Paiva, 4th #17 Eric LeBrun, 5th #77 Lenny Guy and 6th #37 Shawn DeMello
Heat #2
Results1st #4 Darryl Church wire to wire,2nd #82 Rob (drop kick) Murphy, 3rd #80 Mike (ice man) Cavallaro, 4th #22 David Lougee ,"quietly having a outstanding 2015 season"5th #33 Robert Rainville and in the 6th spot was #72 Mike Lopes
Feature Race Results
The draw saw # 50 Mike Duarte and #4 Darryl Church up-front at the green because of their wins in tonight's heat races. #21 Paiva started 6th and #80 Cavallaro 4th, Murphy 7th
Lap six brought out the first caution when Murphy and Cavalarro tangled and the very angry #80 Cavalarro to the rear for the restart.
Lap 8 saw a very aggressive # 80 Cavalarro get crossed up with a slower #72 Mike Lopes and both spun out again. #80 Cavallaro to the rear and #72 Lopes on the farewell wreckers hook.
While all of the fast action was for third , fourth and fifth # 50 Mike Duarte was lights out and building a 12-15 truck lead on cruise control.#22 David Lougee stayed out of harms way and within striking distance while the heavy weights, Murphy and Paiva put on a classic door to door battle and nose to bumper sparing match. If this is any indication of the remainder of the racing season stay tuned. There are still two double points races left on the 2015 schedule and I have a  strong hunch that John Paiva would like nothing better than to re-claim the Seekonk version of the "Game of Thrones" Sports Truck Championship while being deprived of those DQ'd points. The two trucks finished their duel with # Mike Duarte checking out with a 2.69 second lead and a half a track distance ahead his closest competitor.
The dates for the two remaining triple crown double points races are both on Saturday June 27nd & August 1st Mark them on your calendar as Do Not Miss !
