GSPSS To Honor Hoyt With JBH 100 at Monadnock Saturday

Posted by Wayne G. Barber

The Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) will honor the late John Hoyt this Saturday night, with the running of the JBH 100 at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, New Hampshire.

The race has been dedicated to Hoyt as it has in years past and drivers will seek glory in his name. Hoyt was the co-founder of the GSPSS before he unexpectedly passed away in July 2011.

Since then, series president Mike Parks has continued to lead the way for the New England based Super Late Model series and is excited to continue this race in memory of his friend. Parks also drives his No. 66 Black Rock Steakhouse Pro Stock at each series event and is excited to try and capture the checkered flag.

"This is the date I circle on the schedule each and every year," Parks said. "I've finished second twice and also third. We have come close a few times. Hopefully we can win this one for JBH."

At the most recent appearance at Monadnock for the GSPSS this past May, Mike O'Sullivan beat DJ Shaw to the finish to win the Rydemore 100. This time, many cars are expected to appear including 2015 GSPSS champion Derek Griffith, who will make his return to competition after missing the last few races.

The points championship battle will also continue to heat up with just four races remaining before a champion is crowned.

Barry Gray comes into the event with a 20 point advantage over Shaw, who scored the most recent series checkered flag last weekend at Claremont Speedway.

Rookie of the Year contender Mike Mitchell comes into the race third in the standings, just 22 points from the top. Cory Casagrande and Parks round out the top five. Others expected to compete include John Salemi, Glenn Martel and others.

The GSPSS will be joined by the Young Guns, Lightning Stocks, Mini Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Super Stocks and Sportsman Mods for a full night of racing action.
The paddock fee will be $40, with the front gate admission fee for adults set at $20.

Those fans 65+ or in college will enter for $15, while those students from 12-18 will enter for $5. Any young fans under the age of 12 will be admitted free of charge for the nights racing card.
