PIT BOX: Whelen Modifieds Thunder Into Bristol

• The NASCAR Whelen Modified tours make their eighth stop at Thunder Valley Wednesday, as the annual mid-week clash between the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour takes center stage at Bristol Motor Speedway. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Ryan Newman is the only driver to win twice at "The World's Fastest Half Mile," and it's an opportunity for a big championship impact for several drivers. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour points leader Doug Coby returns to the track where he exited early last year after just two laps. Coby followed up that misfortune with runner-up finish and three wins to claim his third tour title. Justin Bonsignore cut Coby's lead to 15 with his win Wednesday at Connecticut's Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. Burt Myers is also coming off a win in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour and carries a 17-point edge on defending tour champion Andy Seuss.
