Thompson Speedway to Honor Women of Motorsports on Saturday July 9

Thompson's very first NASCAR weekly points division Champion !

(THOMPSON, CT) - NASCAR racing returns to the high-banked oval at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) for the only weekend night race of the summer on Saturday, July 9.  In addition to featuring six thrilling divisions of racing, For the Fans Night will also include a special recognition for the women who help support TSMP’s four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS) divisions and drivers.

Although not always in the spotlight, there are many women who show up to TSMP race after race, whether as car owner, crew member, spotter, race official, wife, daughter, or friend. Without their support of the drivers and track, racing at TSMP would not be what it is today.

One familiar face at TSMP, Nanette Viens, has supported her husband Mike “Butch” Viens and son, Christopher, in the Mini Stock division for the last few years. Listed as car owner, her duties go far beyond that when it comes to her family’s racing. “Her support is amazing. She is in charge of fueling the cars at the track, and since she’s taken over we’ve never had an issue,” said Mike. “She helps keep us pointing in the right direction, and her moral support is invaluable.”

As a thank you to her and the countless other women of TSMP, the track will have a special “Ladies Night” hospitality area set up on For the Fans Night with a BBQ dinner and refreshments, courtesy of Renee’s Working Girl Catering.

For the Fans Night will be held on Saturday, July 9 and will feature the North East Mini Stock Tour and Lite Modified divisions, in addition to TSMP’s own four NWAAS divisions, the Sunoco Modifieds, Late Models, Limited Sportsman and Mini Stock. Admission for this event will feature a special discounted rate of only $12 for adults, and $10 for seniors, veterans and active military. As with every race, children 12 & under are free.
